Thus answering the eternal chicken/ road question. Why did the chicken cross the road... to take out a few drivers? And why did my wife get hit by a bear while driving on Highway 26 near Elmvale ??!! A large dent in the side of the car indicates it was a large bear too. No bears or chickens were killed but makes one wonder if there is a plot to take back the roads...

However, my road kill tallying of the past few months has me thinking abnormally. It's a beautiful drive with always a breathtaking view somewhere along the way but I've been troubled lately by the roadkill tally. Turtle, raccoons, red squirrels, skunks, porcupines, cats, dogs, birds, frogs, and the most disturbing last week, just the head of a fawn lying in the middle of the road. Such a toll these roads take and yet we scream in protest at the mention of a toll to use them.

My body count as of July 30th :

Raccoon : 26 | skunk: 15 | porcupine: 9 | deer: 2 | red squirrel: 12 | cats: 11 | kittens: 1 | dog: 1 | turtle: 5 | chipmunk: 1, turkey: 1 | red wing blackbird: 1 | rabbit: 3 | sparrow: 1 | seagull: 3 | fox: 1

Time spent changing and challenging throwing off the shackles of the same old routines and yet another pair of earrings (as much as I enjoy making them one does need a break sometimes). The Mad & Noisy Gallery in Creemore hosted a collection of my recent work in March and it was a refreshing blast of creativity perhaps misguided as unfortunately a goldfish involved in the exhibition perished ... who knew they are such fragile creatures!

The show entitled "Man vs Nature" was all about how we as a species may be missing the point of our actions with our present fascination with shiny digital objects.

Immediately after setting up my exhibition I shuffled off to the entirely new experience of returning to school !!!...Humber to be exact to take a 6 month intensive Graphic Design course. Ironically following my father's first career path of ad design. So since I grew up with Letraset and rubber cement around the house, the subject is not too unfamiliar but lordy sitting in front of a computer screen all day trying to wrap my crusty brain around vectoring and rasterizing is a bit much! I am already missing the act of creating things more tactile, however I am seeing the world of advertising that surrounds us in a whole new light.

</rss:item></rdf:RDF>
